Intro - Face the Waves (an Introduction to Ocean Swimming)
Have you recently graduated from an Ocean Swimming Confidence Course?
Are you keen to join our weekly Face the Waves swim sessions??
But unsure what you’re going yourself in for?!
Then our Intro to Face the Waves is the perfect chance to come and find out what these sessions are about.
These sessions will help you to overcome any fear you might have about joining our regular weekly swims and give you the confidence to join pre existing ocean swimmers in our group sessions.
Swimming and training in the surf will get you fit and make you stronger in your general swim training. Learn and improve on your ocean skills and awareness. These sessions are specifically designed to impart our openwater expertise to both beginner and advanced ocean swimmers.
Consistent attendance to these sessions will help you learn to negotiate surf breaks, identify rips and sand banks to best aid your swimming in and out of the surf and also help you remain calm and safe in surf and ocean environments. Learn to body surf and navigate in open water AND get super fit!
Join a great team of ocean swimmers and surf swimming enthusiasts and even join the crew for a coffee and chinwag after each session.
For the safety and enjoyment of this session, a minimum of 1km continuous freestyle or more is required. If in doubt or if it’s your first time, contact us to help decide if this session is for you.
Face The Waves sessions BONDI BEACH:

Meet in front of the North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club, Bondi Beach.
Open Water swimming is becoming the go to form of exercise especially during lockdowns but also because growing media is exposing the benefits of thalassotherapy (swimming in salty ocean water) and also cold water swimming for mental and physical wellbeing.
These sessions are ideal for beginner ocean swimmers as they are held in less surf exposed locations and a favoured choice for swimmers wanting the challenge and fitness that moving water can offer (as opposed to flat water and pools). A great training ground for triathletes for building their navigation in open water environments for race practice.
A minimum of 500 metres of continuous freestyle is required to safely and confidently join these sessions.
